The Birth Place of Greggy Pal

Everyone somehow or someway knows that the nickname "Pal" is synonymous with Gregg but I am not sure that everyone knows who coined the phrase. It happened to be during the time Gregg and I were working together at Computer Associates. It was during the holidays and there was a Christmas party at the old Juke Box Cafe on Motor Parkway. Gregg and I, like everything else we did, went together in his black Z24. The party lasted a while and needless to say we had a couple of cocktails. Around 11PM we decided to leave and go home. Neither of us were married at the time so we were heading back to Mom and Dads. When we got their we parked the car in the front of the house and were afraid to go inside in our condition. Dad, as he often did, was waiting on the couch for his "boys" to come home. Gregg and I decided that the best course of action would be to take a little nap in the car in hopes we would sober up enough to pull a fast one on the old man. Well, our little nap turned into a nights sleep for most. I woke in a panic around 3:30 and made my way to the front door. Dad must have heard the car door close and met me at the front door. I passed him by and he asked me "where's your brother Gregg" (cause if he didn't say his name I would not know which brother he was talking about). I said he was asleep in the car still. So, in his blue bathrobe, Dad walked out to the street and stood directly in front of the car on the drivers side. He took his knuckles, knocked 3 times on the hood of the car and said

"PAL...GREGGY PAL...WANNA COME IN NOW"

Gregg sat up in the seat looked out at my Dad.. smirked as he always did...got out of the car and walked arm in arm with my Dad to the house and went to sleep.

Thats is where the nickname GREGGY PAL came from!

Love you Miss You PAL,

Bro
